KTH at the CLEO conference 2019
Last week a team from KTH participated in CLEO (the Conference on Lasers and Electro-Optics) in San Jose, California.
Floria Ottonello Briano, Pierre Edinger, and Ass. Prof. Kristinn B. Gylfason from the Micro and Nanosystemsgroup, and Anne-Lise Viotti from the Laser Physicsgroup, and Prof. Katia Gallo from the Nonlinear & Quantum Photonicsgroup presented their most recent research to the international optics & photonics community.
Floria’s contribution, titled ”Carbon Dioxide Sensing with Low-confinement High-sensitivity Mid-IR Silicon Waveguides”, presented a novel technology that enables the miniaturization of optical carbon dioxide sensor. Such sensors could be integrated in mobile devices and greatly contribute to personal safety and air-quality monitoring.
Pierre’s work focuses on combining the technologies of MEMS and silicon photonics to enable FPGA-like photonic chips, i.e. large reconfigurable photonic circuits with low power consumption and capable of complex functions. His contribution, titled ”Reducing Actuation Nonlinearity of MEMS Phase Shifters for Reconfigurable Photonic Circuits”, presented a new technique to improve the reconfiguration performance in such circuits.
Anne-Lise presented the work ”Coherent Temporal Phase Transfer in Backward Wave Parametric Oscillator at 1.4 μm”, and Prof. Gallopresented the work co-authored by Dr. Mohammad Amin Baghban ”Phase-Shifted Bragg Grating Resonators in Thin-Film Lithium Niobate Waveguides”.
