Postdoc in particle emissions from brake friction pairs

Job description

You will work on reducing the wear and emissions from mechanical brake friction pairs in the form of respirable particles and microplastics. The project is a collaborative project between KTH, Uppsala University, and the Swedish Automotive Industry. The tasks include being responsible for and carrying out experimental studies in the laboratory and in full scale of friction pairs. As well as studying the wear in the form of respirable airborne particles and microplastic particles that can migrate into nature. You will spend periods of time at industry partner sites in Sweden conducting full-scale tests. Qualifications

Requirements

  • A doctoral degree or an equivalent foreign degree. This eligibility requirement must be met no later than the time the employment decision is made.

Preferred qualifications

  • A doctoral degree or an equivalent foreign degree, obtained within the last three years prior to the application deadline.
  • It is an advantage that you have experience in measuring wear, friction and airborne particles in parallel.
  • It is an advantage that you have experience in using impactors to collect particle emissions on filters and to analyse the chemistry of the airborne particles.
  • It is an advantage if you have experience in chemical mass balance analysis of airborne particles.
  • It is an advantage if you can communicate scientific results orally and in writing in Swedish and English.

Great emphasis will be placed on personal skills.

About the employment

The position offered is for, at the most, three years.

A position as a postdoctoral fellow is a time-limited qualified appointment focusing mainly on research, intended as a first career step after a dissertation.
