The AICell Lab (https://aicell.io) in the department of Applied Physics at KTH and Science for Life Laboratory is a research group funded by the Data-driven Life Science Fellows program. The group, led by Wei Ouyang, focuses on building AI systems for data-driven cell and molecular biology.
We are seeking a postdoctoral researcher in cell biology and microscopy imaging to join our interdisciplinary team. The project contributes to the AlphaCell program and ongoing efforts with the Human Protein Atlas and other research groups at SciLifeLab, aiming to create automated and AI-assisted microscopy workflows for large-scale human cell imaging and modeling.
You will be responsible for developing and optimizing wet-lab and imaging protocols, coordinating cell-based assays and labeling strategies, and contributing to automation and AI-driven imaging and modeling workflows. The role involves close collaboration with computational and engineering experts to integrate biological experiments with data analysis, modeling, and intelligent control systems.

Requirements
- A doctoral degree or an equivalent foreign degree. This eligibility requirement must be met no later than the time the employment decision is made.
- The ability to express yourself in English, as we work in an international environment.
Preferred qualifications
- A doctoral degree or an equivalent foreign degree, obtained within the last three years prior to the application deadline
- Have proven experience with cell culture, transfection, labeling, and microscopy imaging, ideally including live-cell or multiplexed experiments.
- Demonstrate the ability to develop, optimize, and troubleshoot experimental protocols.
- Are comfortable working in interdisciplinary teams combining biology, imaging, and computation.
- Show interest or experience in automation, AI-assisted microscopy, and data-driven experimental design.
- Have experience working with LLM-based chat assistants, AI agents for scientific research — demonstrated experience is a plus.
- Possess basic programming or data analysis skills (e.g., Python or R).
- Exhibit strong problem-solving skills, independence, and collaborative spirit.
- Have strong teaching abilities
