
Research Engineer in sustainable transport

Job description
Join European projects exploring the links between transport, energy, and emissions. You will help gather data from partner cities, emission estimates based on traffic counts, vehicle‑fleet composition, behavioural and modal shifts. You will also conduct systematic literature review in selected topics.
A core component of the project is the ability to communicate and translate analytical findings into the local context, ensuring that insights are accessible, relevant, and aligned with community needs. As part of a larger research initiative, the project contributes a robust, behaviourally informed, and policy‑sensitive forecasting framework that supports informed decision‑making and long‑term mobility planning.
Qualifications
Requirements
- A graduate degree or an advanced level (higher education) in the research subject or equivalent competence.
- Excellent deductive and analytical abilities, with proven skills in data analysis, computation, and programming.
- Fluency in English, both written and spoken, as the working language of the project.
- Good time‑management skills, with the ability to prioritise tasks and meet deadlines effectively.
Personal skills
- Knowledgeable in transport modelling, forecasting and simulation.
- Has excellent communication skills.
- Aware of diversity and equal opportunity issues, with specific focus on gender equality.
- Collaborative and disciplined.
- Independently pursue their tasks.
Preferred qualifications
- Ability to formulate strong research questions and approach problem‑solving with creativity and critical thinking.
