In this project, we are looking at how social mechanisms can lead to a reduction in energy consumption in housing associations.
The Brf Energi website is a tool for housing associations to compare their own energy consumption with that of other associations and to share experiences and tips on how to reduce energy consumption. Associations that appear very similar on the surface may nevertheless show significant differences in energy consumption. By registering your association on the site, you and others can track the association’s energy consumption and see the impact of measures taken to reduce it.
Brf Energi is part of a research project exploring how energy consumption in housing associations can be reduced. The project is run by the Royal Institute of Technology in Stockholm in collaboration with Metry, HSB and ElectriCITY, and is funded by the Swedish Energy Agency through the E2B2 programme. Housing associations across Sweden are welcome to register to share and compare their energy data, and as the site is open to everyone, the information can easily be shared with, for example, residents or property managers. For privacy reasons, only data for entire associations can be registered (i.e. not for individual households), and the data is summarised in terms of monthly and annual usage. As part of the project, we are collecting data on the use of the Brf Energi website for research purposes, and we may contact you if you have registered an account to ask whether you would like to share your views on the site as part of the research.
