Together with KTH Students for Sustainability, we are hosting a movie night series. The first movie up is Princess Mononoke. The event starts at 17:30 with a short introduction. Then we will watch the two-hour-long movie, and afterwards, Rob Gioielli will open the space for discussing the movie, with a focus on the movie's connection to various ideas of nature and the environment.

Movie plot:
Princess Mononoke is a 1997 Japanese animated epic historical fantasy film written and directed by Hayao Miyazaki and animated by Studio Ghibli. Princess Mononoke is set in the late Muromachi period of Japan (approximately 1336 to 1573 AD), where the story follows a young Emishi prince named Ashitaka. He is infected with an incurable disease by a possessed boar/god, and he is to die unless he can find a cure to rid the curse from his body. It seems that his only hope is to travel to the far east. When he arrives to get help from the deer god, he finds himself in the middle of a battle between the animal inhabitants of the forest and an iron mining town that is exploiting and killing the forest. Leading the forest animals in the battle is a human raised by wolves, Princess Mononoke.
