KTH and Professors from the Division and the EHL cited by the Pope
On the third and fourth of October, the Pope has issued his Laudate Deum on the climate issue in a number of languages. Of three contemporary academics he cites, two are professors at the Division and the EHL, Sverker Sörlin and our visiting professor Paul Warde, also active at the University of Cambridge.
Sverker Sörlin and Paul Ward published Nature's End: History and the Environment (London: Palgrave Macmillan, 2009. , s. 368) in 2009, and it is from the introduction of the book that the Pope quotes.

Sverker and Paul are, among many other things, currently active in SPHERE - Study of the Planetary Human-Environment Relationships . The research project is a historical study of humanity’s relation to planetary conditions and constraints, and how it has become understood as a governance issue.
The third person is the world-renowned anthropologist Donna Haraway of the University of California, Santa Cruz.
Laudate Deum (Praise God) is an apostolic exhortation by Pope Francis, published on October 4, 2023. It is his sixth exhortation. The title refers to the words of St. Francis of Assisi and to the encyclical Laudato si', which was published in 2015. The main goal of "Laudate Deum" is to call once again on all people of good will to care for the poor and for the Earth — our common home, in order to counteract, among others, social exclusion and environmental degradation.
