About me
Research Interests include the following: mechanochemical systems, machine design and tribotronics*. Our research is focused on the development of more sustainable, environmentally adapted and energy efficient components and systems such as rolling and sliding bearings, gears, wet clutches, seals, threaded fasteners, lubricants (oils, greases, aqueous lubes and ionic materials). The energy losses associated with using energy and creating it are a significant fraction of all generated energy and result to a large extent from the frictional losses in moving parts in both machines and generation systems. Our research results have the potential to significantly reduce these losses ( SKF Evolution).
Nowadays more and more machine elements are integrated with electronic components so the distinction between mechanical and electronic parts is gradually disappearing. This trend points out a direction in which machine components should be developed. The demand is for more controllable and adaptive machine components. We develop tribotronic systems as well as active machinery maintenance strategies and multiple parameter sensor technologies.
Our research is supported by the Knut and Alice Wallenberg Foundation, the Swedish Research Council, Swedish Foundation for Strategic Research and Swedish industry.
