Title: Drone-based Methods for Outdoor Sound Propagation

Abstract: I will summarise the work of the Infrasound Research Group at the German National Metrology Institute. The focus will be on drone-based methods for outdoor sound. First, a measurement drone is introduced that is suitable for airborne low-frequency measurements, for example, to determine the sound power and radiation characteristics of large sound sources in situ. Second, I present two propagation models that can be fitted to drone measurements to predict far-field radiation under complex atmospheric conditions. Combining airborne measurements with propagation models allows us to better understand the effects of atmospheric conditions on sound propagation, model noise pollution, and develop techniques for automated calibration of acoustic sensor networks.
