The project includes the following stages:

  1. A report with a maximum of 20 pages per team. An electronic copy must be sent to camille.hamon@ee.kth.se, by Friday 11 April 2014, 5 pm (17.00). You can find instructions for the report at the end of this document.
  2. Each report will be given to another team for opposition. All teams must send an electronic version of the opposition report to camille.hamon@ee.kth.se on Tuesday 22 April 2014, 5 pm.
  3. The teams update their report according to the comments received from the opposing team. A paper copy of the final report must be handed in in the course mailbox at Teknikringen 33 and an electronic copy sent to camille.hamon@ee.kth.se by Wednesday 30 April 2014, 5 pm.
  4. A team presentation of 10 – 15 minutes, which will be held on one of 12, 13, 14, 15 and 16 May 2014. The presentation will be followed by questions from the audience..

Important deadlines

DateDescription
11 April, 17:00 Send an electronic copy of the report to camille.hamon@ee.kth.se
22 April, 17:00 Send the opposition report to camille.hamon@ee.kth.se
30 April, 17:00 Final report: Send an electronic copy to camille.hamon@ee.kth.se
23 April – 1 May Register for the oral presentation: http://intra.ees.kth.se/adm12-ee/adm/modules/labbooking/labeventstudentapplication.php

Instructions for the report

A portion of the final mark will depend on the structure and layout of the final report. The report must be written in English and should be well structured (it is advised to use the different tasks, sections A – E, as the different sections for the report). The layout should be consequent throughout the report. The page limit of 20 pages includes everything (title page, table of contents, main content, bibliography) but appendices.

The following elements must be found in your report:

  • names of team participants,
  • a table of contents,
  • a summary,
  • a list of all references: you have to give references for all figures and facts (for example electricity prices and prices to build the turbines), definitions of all symbols introduced in the calculations, page numbers.

Check this list before you hand in your report to make sure that your report fulfil these requirements. Please note that the reports will be run through an anti-plagiarism tool that searches for matches between the reports and sources available on the internet.

Sorry, I dont have a clue how to find my group mates.

My name is Pedro Henrique Franco Moraes - phfranco@hotmail.com

Lärare kommenterade 12 februari 2013

Click on the link called "Project groups" above. It will open a PDF file with all groups and their members.

kommenterade 12 februari 2013

Yep, this I know. I don't know how to get their emails. Because it looks like I don't have access to webmail.kth anymore and I really don't know why, I just can't enter my email.

Lärare kommenterade 13 februari 2013

You can now find the email addresses of the group members in the list of groups above.

For sure groups 4,8 and 15 consist of 3 people, since some people have signed the list but will not attend the course. Is there possiblity to combine groups? Maybe if one more group has 3 members?

Hi everyone, me Pedro Franco and Andres Llorente are looking for Alexander Rodrigues, since we dont know him yet. We want to reunite our group so we can start meeting and discussing the project.

If you see the message Alexander, feel free to add us on facebook:

Hey everyone. This is Mehrdad Kazemtabrizi. I am in group number 11 and my partners are Daniel Brink, Arnaud Shulke, and Mohamed Essadki. My email is mkaz@kth.se

If you see this message, please come to the lecture tomorrow at 10:00 so we can get to know each other and talk about the project. Feel free to email me also if you can't attend the lecture and another day is better for you to schedule a meeting.

Thanks

Vasiliki: It was no problem for groups of three to complete the project the previous years. If you still prefer to be in groups of 4, please contact the other groups of 3 and come back to me if everybody agrees.

Assistent kommenterade 18 februari 2013

I will be available tomorrow during the assistance session (13.00 to 15.00 in H21) for answering questions about the project.

Assistent kommenterade 28 februari 2013

I have received mails from groups in which there are only two active students. As far as I know, the following groups have only two active members:

  • Groups 3, 4 and 8

If any other group only has two members, please send me an email. I will discuss with these groups to see whether we can re-distribute in larger groups.

kommenterade 28 februari 2013

Group 8 has three members.

I have a question about part B of the project. We are supposed to sketch layouts for the wind farm. Are layouts supposed to fit with the location we choosed ? Because wind characteristics don't fit with the location (it is particulary a problem for mountain locations).

Any pieces of advice ?

Assistent kommenterade 25 mars 2013

Yes, layouts have to fit the location.

Assistent kommenterade 26 mars 2013

This is a remainder that I am available during assistance time for the project. In particular, I will be available tomorrow during the assistance session (13.00 to 15.00 in H21).

The following groups haven't sent me an electronic version (PDF) of their report:

  • 5, 6, 8, 10, 14, 15

Send them by Monday evening.

Hej,

we got a question due to task A of the project:

Shall we take the characteristics of our location already into account when we are looking for the 4 turbines that we want to compare? More detailed, are the wind speeds of our site already important for this task?

Thank you in advance.

John

Assistent kommenterade 10 februari 2014

You do not need to analyse the wind speed data for task A. You will do this in task B for the two turbines you keep from task A. However, you must consider in task A more general aspects about your location. For example, if it is onshore, offshore or in the mountains.

kommenterade 14 februari 2014

Do we have to choose 4 turbines from 4 companies or is it OK to choose 4 turbines from 2 only manufacturers?

Assistent kommenterade 14 februari 2014

You can choose only from 2 manufacturers if you want but the four turbines have to be different enough so that you can compare them.

kommenterade 14 februari 2014

Hi, one question about task B: is the wind speed given in the data set the speed according to the given WD degree or a perpendicular wind speed?

Assistent kommenterade 17 februari 2014

See the instructions for Task B where this is described.
