190507 (Edwin Langmann added): If you want to only write the exam in SI1142, please write Part 1 in the SI2360 exam on Wednesday 29 May 08:00-13:00. (The separate SI1142 exam on another day was scheduled by mistake, and when we discovered this mistake it was too late to remove it. If you already registered for this separate SI1142 exam, please unregister. Thank you!!)

We were informed that students registered for SI1142 cannot access the SI2360 canvas page. We sent a request to make this possible, but since it might take some time to fix this problem we put out the most important info about the course on the  SI2360 KTH social page  (which is accessible to all KTH students). 

Please note also that there no longer are exercise classes in SI1142 (they were scheduled by mistake). 

Välkommen till SI1142

Kursen Fysikens Matematiska Metoder, tilläggskurs (SI1142) riktar sig till studenter som läst SI1140 eller motsvarande. Vi kommer att gå djupare in på grunderna till den moderna teoretiska fysiken och införa den formalism som är nödvändig för att enklare ta steget från klassisk mekanik till kvantmekanik.

Kursinnehåll

• Fördjupning inom vektor- och tensoranalys med allmänna koordinatsystem.
• Fördjupning inom lagrangemekanik och Noethers sats.
• Introduktion till Hamiltons formulering av mekaniken.
