Course selection

As an exchange student you have to take at least 50% of your credits from the School of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science (EECS). All courses with a course code that starts with an “D, E and I” belong to School of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science. 30 credits represent full time studies at KTH. Courses in Swedish language and/or the course Swedish Society (AK1213) can be excluded from the 30 ECTS credit maximum.The academic year at KTH is divided into two semesters, autumn and spring, and each semester into two periods. Period 1 and 2 cover autumn term, period 3 and 4 spring term.

To find the timetable for the courses you are taking at KTH, please visit the Search Schedules | KTH. Please note that the schedules of the courses may collide, so it is wise to check their schedule before you decide on which courses to take. Some collisions may be manageable, but to what degree is for you to decide for yourself. If you take courses from one programme only, the courses are however usually separated.

The course selection is to be done via an online form. The link to the course selection form will be sent out by the International Coordinator after admission to exchange studies.

Courses have a course code and application code. The application code states the version of the course. If a course is offered e.g. twice during a term or for different target groups it  has different application codes but the same course code. You find it when you select the term and the period on the course website (scroll bar to the right on the page).

Please note:

• It is your responsibility to check that you fulfill the prerequisites of the courses you apply for. Those are stated in the course description. If you have doubts please contact the contact person/examiner of the course.
•  For courses with a limited number of participants where a selection is necessary admission is not guaranteed and you will not be able to have the result of admission before the middle of August for autumn courses and December for spring courses.
• Try to get an equal workload over the semester by choosing courses not only from one period.
• You are not automatically signed up to the courses you have chosen on the Learning Agreement with your application. You have to complete the online-form for course selection.
• You must keep yourself informed about which courses will be given.

Swedish language courses

We offer language courses in Swedish with no fee for our exchange students. The courses during the semesters are taught at the main campus every second week. You can find more information about the Swedish courses here.
