Subcellular Proteome

The aim of this program is to generate a proteome-wide Cell Atlas and to use the obtained information to explore the relevance of the proteins for drug discovery and development.

Compartmentalization of biological processes is a fundamental principle of eukaryotic cells that enables multiple processes to occur in parallel. The compartment types are specialized for a particular cellular function and contain molecules for that purpose. Defects in compartment organization or protein translocation underlie the cause of many forms of human disease.

The objective of this program is to generate a Cell Atlas within the frame-work of the Human Protein Atlas. This subcellular protein atlas displays high resolution, multicolor images of immunofluorescently stained cells. This provides spatial information on protein expression patterns on a fine cellular and subcellular level.
