Published Apr 30, 2020

Markus Kärkäs, Assistant Professor in Organic Chemistry, will represent Sweden at the Young Investigator Workshop (YIW) in Lisbon in September.
“I am excited and honored to be representing Sweden at this year’s YIW. Above all I’m looking forward to meeting young researchers from other European countries,” says Markus Kärkäs.

Markus has been nominated by the Swedish Chemical Society in cooperation with the European Chemical Society.

Each member state of the European Chemical Society can nominate one young and talented researcher to the YIW and the number of people invited is usually limited to 30. At the workshop the participants get the opportunity to present their latest research results and it is a good chance to network with fellow researchers from around Europe.

“The limited number of participants offers a unique possibility for more personal discussions and an opportunity to connect with other young and talented European researchers. As a young scholar, it’s important to build a network of eminent potential partners.”

Will you focus on presenting something in particular?

“I will present new and exciting results from a range of project within my research group and I hope for positive response from the other participants,” says Markus Kärkäs.

The Young Investigator Workshop (YIW) takes place in Lisbon, Portugal, on 4–6 September.
