It went well for KTH in the Researcher’s Grand Prix in Stockholm – robotics researcher Sanne van Waveren came in second place and Tomas Rosén from Fibre processes claimed victory.
”Now, it feels very good! It's starting to sink in that it worked out and that all the work I put in paid off,” says Tomas Rosén.

The Researcher’s Grand Prix (FGP) is a competition where researchers compete by presenting their research in the most captivating way, in just four minutes. The winner is chosen by the audience and a jury consisting of three people who look at rhetoric, content and scientificity.

“I was quite nervous, so then and there, I was mostly relieved that it was over and that the presentation went well. But now a few days later, I can enjoy it a little more and feel proud that I managed to convey my research to the young people so that they voted me on to the national final.”

FGP takes place in connection with ForskarFredag. Tomas Rosén appreciated the whole day, especially that he had the opportunity to talk to a high school class about what it is like to be a researcher.

Inspired students

“The most fun was talking to the students who dared to come forward and asked very good and relevant questions about my research, but also bigger questions about the technological solutions of the future. It felt like I succeeded in inspiring some students to take an interest in science and research.”

The final of the FGP takes place at Nalen in Stockholm on the first of December. Tomas Rosén is looking forward to it, but also thinks it will be nice to have a few weeks' break from his four-minute explanation.

“I have practiced it so many times before Friday, so I need to let it go a little. But in a few weeks, the preparations will start again and we'll see if I might make some changes to sharpen the message,” says Tomas Rosén.
