Relationships between vocal parameters and room-acoustics

Time: Tue 2017-04-25 16.00 - 16.30

Location: Fantum, Lindstedsvägen 24, 5th floor

The students will be shown the application of a new device for voice monitoring developed at the Politecnico di Torino, called Voice Care, in different room acoustics contexts. Voice care is equipped with a contact sensor to be glued at the jugular notch of the person under monitoring that senses the skin vibration induced by the vocal folds activity while speaking. The lesson will be on the description of the main vocal parameters deriving from Voice Care monitoring and of the parameters that can be measured in-field concerning room acoustics.  Correlations between long-term vocal parameters and room-acoustics parameters will be also presented deriving from recent in -field research.

Moreover, the combined effects of noise and reverberation on vocal effort in simulated classrooms will be described, together with the relationships with vocal comfort.
