Development of new material process parameters through electron beam melting

Enabling the industry to use AM methods to save waste and seek for the new possibilities, by developing and optimizing new machine-related material process parameters through electron beam melting (EBM).

Background

My research focus is on developing and optimizing new material process parameter through electron beam melting (EBM). This opens up the opportunity for the industry to use various material through AM method to save the waste and seek for the new possibilities.

Aims and objectives

We have successfully found the process parameters to fabricate the NiTi dense parts through the EBM. Our plan for the future is to use machine-related process parameter to manipulate the shape memory response and superelasticity of the EBMed NiTi parts.

Project plan

Applied interdisciplinarity

  • At IIP, we measure the EBM parameters to process new materials such as NiTi
  • At IIP, we develop EBM process parameters to manufacture components from new materials such as NiTi
  • With the help of MSE, we examine powders, we test/analyse parts, and we control the properties.
