Use of technologies from a patient perspective

Research project: Digital learning

Published Feb 26, 2017

How is information and communications technology (ICT) used, from a learning perspective, in internet-delivered cognitive behavioural therapy (ICBT) for children and adolescents? And how should it be used, in order to support this area of use in the best possible way? This is what researchers from KTH are studying, as part of the larger project "Improved access and delivery of treatment to children and adolescents through Internet-based cognitive behaviour therapy: From development to implementation in regular health care", which is led by the Department of Clinical Neuroscience (CNS) at Karolinska Institutet (KI). The participating researchers from KTH are Fredrik Enoksson and Stefan Hrastinski, who both do their research at the Digital learning unit, department of Learning at KTH.

About the project

This project is part of the larger project Improved access and delivery of treatment to children and adolescents through Internet-based cognitive behavior therapy: From development to implementation in regular health care, which is led by the Department of Clinical Neuroscience at Karolinska Institutet. KTH contributes to the project with a learning perspective on how ICT can be used in uninvestigated situations, such as that of Internet-delivered Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (ICBT) for children and adolescents. This situation is similar to that of distance studies, which is often referred to as e-learning or, more lately, Blended Learning.

The objective of this project, is to study how technologies are used from the patient perspective. Furthermore, the researchers hope that the results later can act as guidance for how technology should be used in order to support this area of use in the best possible way.
