Full house at Dr. Robert Langer's presentation at KTH

Published Jun 11, 2019

In May, KTH Innovation welcomed KTH researchers and specially invited guests to a lunch seminar with Dr. Robert Langer, David H. Koch Institute Professor at Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) and a true pioneer in research and commercialization.

Langer has over 1300 issued and pending patents worldwide, has published close to 1500 articles, started over 30 spin-off companies, and is currently tied in fourth place as the most cited person in history in any field. It is estimated that his work has impacted over two billion lives.

Following Langer's presentation, Lisa Ericsson, Head of KTH Innovation, opened up for a fireside chat. Three KTH researchers; Ann-Christine Albertsson, KTH Professor Emerita in Fibre and Polymer Technology, Sophia Hober, KTH Professor of Molecular Biotechnology, and Niclas Roxhed, KTH Associate Professor in Micro and Nano Systems Technology, reflected on Langer’s presentation and how research commercialization can be a tool to achieve academic excellence and impact.

Hear Langer share experiences and insights on creating and implementing breakthrough technologies, based on his long and successful career in research at the interface of medicine, materials science, and chemical engineering.

Dr. Langer is the David H. Koch Institute Professor, one of only 13 Institute Professors at MIT. Langer has received more than 220 major awards and is one of four living individuals to have received both the United States National Medal of Science (2006) and the United States National Medal of Technology and Innovation (2011).

This seminar was organized by KTH Innovation in cooperation with the Embassy of the United States in Sweden.
