Course on innovation, intellectual property rights and scientific communication

Are you interested in learning more about the innovation process and how to commercialize research results? Or do you want to learn about the importance of IPR in agreements with funding agencies, publishers and collaboration partners? Are you a PhD student at KTH? Great! This is your chance to learn more about these topics by taking the course LE3010 – Innovation and IPR in Academic Research. The course corresponds to 3 ECTS-credits and is given in collaboration between KTH Library, KTH Innovation and the Swedish Patent and Registration Office (PRV).

Setup of the course

You are required to pass two assignments and participate at three days of seminars and workshops:

Day 1: Basic knowledge about Intellectual Property Rights

Presenters: Mats Nordenborg, lawyer specialized in IPR from the Swedish Patent and Trade Office (PRV) and Dr Rosa Lönneborg (KTH Library)

Date and place: 12th of October 9 am-16 pm, room Salongen (KTH Library), Osquars backe 31.

Day 2: The patent system, IP strategies and how to find useful information from patents within your research area

Presenters: Christin Wendel, patent engineer (PRV), Fredrik Rahm, patent attorney (AWA) and Dr Rosa Lönneborg (KTH Library)

Date and place: 19th of October 9 am-16 pm, room Fantum, Lindstedtsvägen 24.

Day 3: Commercialization of research results

Presenter: Gustav Notander, KTH Innovation

Date and place: 26th of October 9 am-16 pm, room Salongen (KTH Library), Osquars backe 31.
