The Swedish government has appointed Anders Söderholm President of KTH from 1 December 2022. He has a background as Professor of Business Administration and is currently Secretary General of the Swedish Higher Education Authority.
“It is a great honour to be appointed to head up one of Sweden’s leading universities, and also a prominent institution internationally. I genuinely look forward to 1 December,” he says.

Anders Söderholm has extensive experience in the academic sphere, including spells as Director General of the Association of Swedish Higher Education Institutions, Vice-Chancellor of Mid Sweden University and of the Umeå School of Business, Economics and Statistics.

How would you like to see KTH develop?

“We will continue to develop and foster KTH’s comprehensive expertise in collaboration, research and education, in which digitalisation and internationalisation are important ways forward to meet the major challenges society is facing.”

How do you see KTH’s role in societal development?

“KTH will be at the leading edge, and will lead and drive the main transition issues in society, in areas such as climate, energy and digitalisation. A key aspect is of course teaching the students so they have the right skills and expertise to drive change.”

What’s the first thing you’re going to do in your new role?

“I think that listening more than speaking is a good start for any leader in a new organisation, as well as meeting people.”

KTH’s current President, Sigbritt Karlsson, will finish on 30 November, after which Anders Söderholm will take over for six years until 30 November 2028 as ordained by the government.
