Do place managers matter for safety?

Place manager

The purpose of this study is to investigate the importance of place management for safety in residential areas. With the support of situational crime prevention principles and place management theory, we use both quantitative and qualitative methods to first identify apartment buildings with high and low crime concentrations and investigate which factors cause the differences in crime. Through interviews with property owners and surveys with property managers, we then examine whether and how different forms of place management methods affect the criminogenic and safety conditions of these areas. We search for concrete patterns that can be generalized to other municipalities of varying sizes in the rest of Sweden.
