MSc Sustainable Energy Systems (InnoEnergy)
The master’s programme in Sustainable Energy Systems prepares students to lead the sustainable energy transition through an interdisciplinary understanding of energy challenges. Bringing together engineering, sustainability science, economics, innovation and policy, the programme examines how technical choices interact with environmental and societal priorities. Students learn to assess sustainability trade-offs and develop integrated solutions that support climate neutrality, circularity and resilient energy systems.
Sustainable Energy Systems at KTH
Delivered through InnoEnergy Masters+, this two-year, full-time programme comprises 120 ECTS credits and is taught in English. Students study at two universities in different European countries and, on successful completion, receive a master’s degree from each.
At KTH, students can complete their first-year foundation or pursue a second-year specialisation in combined energy systems. The specialisation investigates how energy sources, technologies and services can work together efficiently, with project work and electives supporting a broader understanding of energy-system performance and optimisation.
Collaborative projects, a final-year thesis and entrepreneurship education at Esade Business School connect academic learning with practical energy challenges. Graduates develop the breadth to evaluate complex energy transitions and the specialist knowledge to contribute to engineering, innovation, planning and sustainability initiatives.
