Amanda
Amanda, originally from Lithuania, studied Energy Technology at LUT University and Hebei University of Technology, fostering her passion for sustainability and innovation. She is currently pursuing a Master's degree in Integrated Product Design at KTH with a focus on Innovation Management and Product Development. In her free time, Amanda enjoys basketball, exploring museums, discovering new restaurants and cafés, and listening to music. She values learning about different cultures, which enriches her experience in an international environment.
Why did you choose this master's programme at KTH?
I chose the Integrated Product Design programme because it combines creativity, technology and innovation in a way that really fits my interests and career goals. Coming from an engineering background, I wanted to expand my perspective and learn how products are developed not only from a technical standpoint but also from a user and business perspective. KTH was a natural choice, with its strong research culture, international environment and close links to industry.
What are the best aspects of your programme?
One of the programme's best aspects is the combination of theory and practical application. We do projects that push us to think creatively while also considering real-world constraints and user needs. I also appreciate that the programme is multidisciplinary - having students from different backgrounds means we learn from each other and develop more innovative solutions together.
How is student life in Stockholm?
Student life in Stockholm has been a really good experience. The city makes it easy to balance academic life and personal well-being. There are always opportunities to get involved in student events, explore cultural activities or just enjoy the outdoors. I love visiting museums, wandering along the waterfront and trying new places to eat. It is a city that feels both lively and calm at the same time, which I have really come to appreciate.
How would you describe your time at KTH so far?
KTH has inspired me and genuinely made a difference in my life. It has challenged me academically and helped me grow as a person. I have had the chance to work with talented people from all over the world, learn new ways of thinking and feel more confident in my abilities. At the same time I have made great friends and memories I will carry long after graduation. Every day feels like a step forward and I look forward to seeing where this journey takes me.
What do you want to do after graduating?
After graduation I would like to work in product development and innovation, ideally contributing to solutions that promote sustainability and improve people's everyday lives. I want to work in interdisciplinary teams that take ideas from concept to reality and help shape products that have a real positive impact. The experience and knowledge I am gaining at KTH is laying a strong foundation for reaching those goal!
What would you like to say to students thinking of choosing KTH for master's studies?
If you have been thinking about applying to KTH, go for it. It is so much more than just a degree - you will grow both personally and professionally, meet people from all over the world and be pushed in ways you did not expect. Starting over in a new country can feel overwhelming at first, but it is absolutely worth it. Just be yourself, stay curious and take advantage of every opportunity that comes your way.
