Why did you choose this master’s programme at KTH?

I have been interested in robotics and autonomous systems since high school, and my goal has always been to pursue a Master’s degree and contribute to innovations that could make the world a better place. After my undergraduate studies, I realised I needed to strengthen my background and expertise to keep up with technological advances. Additionally, Sweden has always been my ideal destination for higher education because it offers a high quality of life and promotes modern innovation and sustainability. Plus, KTH is recognised as a top-tier technical university with a strong reputation and global recognition. Considering all these factors, I decided to pursue my Master’s degree in Mechatronics at KTH.

How do studies at KTH differ from your previous studies?

My previous studies focused more on theoretical knowledge than hands-on tasks, especially since most of my undergraduate school time was affected by the pandemic, which prevented me from participating in laboratory work. As a result, I had an unclear understanding of how my engineering knowledge could be tailored to real-world scenarios.

Studying at KTH has been a wonderful experience for me. The lectures really focus on the essential concepts, making the learning clear and engaging. I also enjoyed the many hands-on projects, which helped resolve some of my previous doubts and gave me practical understanding. Plus, the seminar sessions are a great opportunity for students to chat, exchange ideas, and learn from each other. The presentations are an important part of showing that we truly grasp what we've learned. Overall, the courses foster an encouraging and interactive learning environment.

Although some courses rely on self-study, I found it to be an opportunity to motivate myself, think creatively, and expand my knowledge beyond the classroom. Furthermore, all the professors and teaching assistants are very approachable and supportive, mostly willing to answer questions and provide guidance.

How is student life in Stockholm?

My student life here has been totally enjoyable! As I mentioned earlier, Sweden is one of the best places to live, especially Stockholm, which has the perfect balance between nature and a peaceful city. The public transportation system here is also great, covering the city and allowing access to even the most hidden gems.

So far, I believe Stockholm is such a nice place to live in the long term. Most Swedes also speak English fluently, making it convenient to communicate if you do not know Swedish (though I would recommend learning a little bit 😊).

Another great thing is that I have had a chance to meet a lot of amazing friends from around the world. We not only support each other in class but also spend quality time together outside of school. Everyone is enthusiastic to learn, which really creates a motivating educational environment.
