MSc Smart Electrical Networks and Systems (InnoEnergy)
The master’s programme in Smart Electrical Networks and Systems prepares students to address the engineering challenges of electrification. As renewable generation, storage and electric transport connect to the grid, electricity networks must become more flexible and responsive. The programme develops expertise in power systems, smart grids, power electronics and electrical machines, from the conversion of electricity to its distribution and control.
Smart Electrical Networks and Systems at KTH
Delivered through InnoEnergy Masters+, this two-year, full-time programme comprises 120 ECTS credits and is taught in English. Students study at two universities in different European countries and, on successful completion, receive a master’s degree from each.
KTH Royal Institute of Technology offers first-year studies in power engineering, including a team project with an industrial organisation. Its second-year specialisation focuses on advanced grid technology, including high-voltage direct-current transmission, network protection and control. This second-year route follows first-year study at Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya · BarcelonaTech.
European learning modules, industry projects and entrepreneurship education at Esade Business School connect the technical curriculum with practical applications. A substantial final-year thesis or graduation project develops specialist expertise relevant to electricity networks, renewable integration and the wider electrical power sector.
