Alex
Alex is from China. She holds a bachelor’s degree in Labour Relations and Industrial Management from Renmin University of China, with additional studies in workplace health. She grew up on a farm surrounded by animals, which sparked her strong interest in nature and animal protection. That is also why the first Swedish phrase she learned was “Can I pet your dog?”
Why did you choose this master’s programme at KTH?
People today spend a large part of their lives at work, and many are affected by stress, discomfort, or long-term health problems caused by the working environment. I want to contribute to creating healthier and more sustainable workplaces, and KTH is always a top choice when it comes to sustainability in technology and engineering.
What are some of your favourite courses so far?
One of my favourite courses is Evaluation and Measures of the Acoustic Work Environment and Vibrations. I really enjoy the labs, and it is very interesting to see how theory becomes practical through real measurements and assessment methods. Learning to improve workplace safety and people’s health is AMAZING!
How do studies at KTH differ from your previous studies?
Studying at KTH is much more hands-on and practice-oriented. Compared to my previous studies, there is a stronger focus on real-life applications, industry collaboration, and experimental learning. We are encouraged to actively participate, express ideas, and work with real companies. The group projects make the learning experience more interactive and dynamic.
How is student life in Stockholm?
Student life in Stockholm is very welcoming and diverse. I have met many friendly people from different backgrounds—salsa friends, Swedish language café friends, swimming buddies, and hiking groups—which makes my life very inspiring. Also, the city is surrounded by beautiful nature, and you can never deny its power.
What would you like to say to students thinking of choosing KTH for master’s studies?
KTH is a university that values openness, equality, and sustainability. It encourages free discussion, critical thinking, and collaboration. If you are interested in combining technology with real-world impact, KTH is a great choice.
