Harshitha
Harshitha is from India and is currently pursuing a Master’s in Communication Systems at KTH. She completed her B.tech in CSE with a specialization in IoT from GITAM University, Hyderabad. Joining her master’s directly after her bachelor’s, she is eager to expand her knowledge in advanced communication systems and explore new opportunities for growth. Curious by nature, Harshitha enjoys discovering new ideas, listening to music and trying new experiences.

Why did you choose this master's programme at KTH?
I first came across KTH while searching for universities online and even through Instagram, where I saw posts about the academics and student life here. What really attracted me was KTH's strong reputation in research and innovation. I had a sound theoretical background during my bachelor's in IoT (Internet of Things). Still, I wanted more practical exposure and opportunities in communication systems technologies, and this programme in KTH offered the perfect mix of theory, practical labs, and research opportunities. Another reason I chose KTH was the welcoming student environment in Stockholm, which I also learned about from past student ambassadors. Altogether, it felt like the right place to grow academically and personally.
What are the best aspects of your programme?
One of the best aspects of my master's programme in Communication Systems is that it combines theory with hands-on experience. This allows me to work with both wired and wireless networks and explore technologies like 5G, cloud computing, and the Internet of Things. I enjoy understanding how networks work, from protocols to signal transmission, and thinking creatively about designing secure and efficient systems. The programme connects theory with practical ideas, helping me gain the skills and confidence to solve real-world problems and contribute to future communication technologies.
Have you chosen a specialisation track within the programme? Which track and why?
I am particularly drawn to the courses of the Wireless Networking track specialisation as they align with my interest in building interactive systems with advanced modern development methodologies. I am specifically interested in developing user-centred, secure, and sustainable systems and services. Since I am currently in my first semester, I will choose the track in my second semester. I am excited to gain more practical knowledge, improve my technical expertise, and work on real-world applications through this specialisation.
What do you want to do after graduating?
After graduating, I want to work in communication systems and networking, where I can apply the knowledge and skills I gained during my master's. I am particularly interested in exploring technologies like 5G, the Internet of Things, and smart connected systems and contributing to designing secure, efficient, and innovative solutions. I also hope to contribute to research and development in emerging communication technologies, helping create sustainable and user-centred systems that can shape the future of connectivity.
What would you like to say to students thinking of choosing KTH for master's studies?
KTH is an excellent choice for anyone interested in cutting-edge technology and hands-on learning. The master's programmes offer a strong mix of theory and practical experience, and you get to explore emerging fields like 5G, IoT, and smart connected systems. The environment is very supportive, and you can work on real-world projects, develop your skills, and grow both academically and professionally. If you are curious, motivated, and want to be part of a community that encourages innovation, KTH is a great place to achieve your goals.
