High-quality doctoral education

KTH has approximately 1,900 doctoral students, a number equal to more than one-third of the country's capacity in the field of engineering and technology. The aim of doctoral education is to provide society with qualified and independent researchers.

An international environment

KTH provides an excellent international research environment where English is the primary working language. A large proportion of PhD-level enrolment is composed of international students. In fact, one objective of the KTH master's programmes is to recruit outstanding international students to PhD positions. After completing their doctoral education at KTH, many graduates go on to international careers.

Doctoral students at KTH are normally employed by the university and receive a monthly salary. Student influence

The education and study environment at KTH is strongly influenced by the students, who are represented on all boards and in all committees where decisions are made about doctoral education. Location

KTH is located in Stockholm, the capital of Sweden, which provides all the amenities of a large city in terms of culture, business, history and good public transport. Stockholm is surrounded by plenty of green areas and water, and is known for its great natural beauty.
