Information about the project

Short project facts

Funded by: Organisation of European national road administrations
Time period: 2024-2026
Project members: INDEK

Background

The main objective of ISAC is to establish general guiding principles that highlight dependencies, pre-conditions, and necessary steps to advance the implementation and adoption of IA across borders and at the national level for the transport of goods by road.

The adoption of Intelligent Access (IA) in road freight transport offers National Road Authorities (NRAs) solutions to budgetary and climate challenges by optimizing the use of existing infrastructure. IA also aligns with broader trends in digitisation, automation, and connectivity across governments, supply chain and logistics actors. Beyond NRAs, beneficiaries include vehicle authorities, policymakers, service providers, shippers, haulers, transporters, and manufacturers. As a core application of connected vehicles, IA enhances road and traffic management while delivering significant commercial and operational advantages for road operators and the logistics industry.
