Operations and supply chain management

About the research at INDEK that focuses on strategic, innovative, and sustainable value chain optimisation.

Research area description

Research in this field centres on how organisations achieve competitiveness through planning, innovation, management, and coordination of strategies (operational, tactical and strategic), investments and processes involved in producing and delivering goods and services—from raw material acquisition to customer delivery and post sales activities.

By developing operations and supply chains, organisations pursue improvements in various performance objectives. This area is closely connected to both sustainability and the digitalization of companies’ operations and their supply chains. Digital transformation is accelerating through technologies such as AI, IoT, and blockchain, fundamentally redefining how supply chains operate. At the same time, sustainability and resilience remain critical, requiring firms to minimize environmental impact, respond effectively to disruptions, and develop agile, transparent networks.

The research explores cross-cutting challenges that are increasingly reshaping the landscape by adopting mixed-method approaches, incorporating both qualitative and quantitative techniques.
