Gabriel Skantze elected to the Young Academy of Sweden

The Young Academy of Sweden, an independent, interdisciplinary forum for some of Sweden's most prominent young researchers, presented eight new members on the 23rd of May. Among them, Gabriel Skantze, docent of speech technology at the department of Speech Music and Hearing.

On the initiative of the Royal Swedish Academy of Sciences, they academy was formed on the 27th of May 2011. Young in this context is a researcher who defended their thesis ten years ago or less. Researchers are elected as a member of the academy for a five-year period, thus the composition of the academy varies from year-to-year. Criterias for election to the academy is scientific excellence and a researcher who shows a strong commitment to the issues of the Young Academy of Sweden. A main task of the academy is to come with constructive proposals on how to better the conditions for Sweden's younger researchers.
