Postdocs in Wireless Networks and AI-Driven Resource Optimization
School of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science at KTH
Job description
We invite applications for two Postdoctoral Researcher positions in the Communication Systems Division at KTH. The position is part of two large European research initiatives, SMART-6GSAT and 6G DICE, which aim to shape the next generation of integrated terrestrial and non-terrestrial 6G networks. These projects bring together leading academic, industrial, and public partners to develop energy-efficient, resilient, and trustworthy AI-driven connectivity solutions for future communication infrastructures.
The postdocs will contribute to AI-assisted network design, optimization, and orchestration across terrestrial, aerial, and satellite segments. The work will combine latest machine learning tools like LLMs, Transformers, explaianable AI and mathematical optimization to enable dynamic allocation of radio, computing, and energy resources under network constraints.
The research is conducted within a collaborative and multidisciplinary environment, involving close interaction with major industry partners (e.g., Ericsson, Airbus etc.) and other European research centers. The positions offers excellent opportunities for high-impact publications, contribution to demonstrators and standardization, and professional development in academia and industry.
The successful candidates will play a central role in coordinating research activities within the group, leading collaborative tasks in international projects, publishing in top-tier journals and conferences, and supervising MSc and co-supervising PhD students.
Current research directions include, but are not limited to:
- Vehicular and aerial communication systems
- AI-based network optimization
- Integrated terrestrial–non-terrestrial network architectures
- Joint communication, computation, and sensing
- 3D wireless networks and interference management
Qualifications
Requirements
- A doctoral degree or an equivalent foreign degree. This eligibility requirement must be met no later than the time the employment decision is made.
- a PhD in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or a closely related field, with a strong research record in wireless communications, networking, or optimization.
- Publications in high-quality journals or conferences (preferably at the IEEE Transactions level) in the relevant subject areas.
Preferred qualifications
- A doctoral degree or an equivalent foreign degree, obtained within the last three years prior to the application deadline
- Demonstrated ability to work independently as well as collaboratively in multidisciplinary and international environments.
