Research Engineer in mammalian cell bioprocessing (Vikariat)

Job description

The Cell Technology Group (CETEG, Dept. Industrial Biotechnology, CBH School, KTH, Stockholm), has a long experience in the development of biopharmaceutical and biological drug bioprocesses for human therapy. CETEG leader is Prof. Veronique Chotteau, who is Director of AdBIOPRO, a Competence Centre for Advanced Bioproduction by Continuous Processing, in collaboration with Lund University, Karolinska Institutet, Linköping University, Karolinska Hospital and 15 Swedish companies in the protein drug/biotechnology industry.

CETEG's activities include bioprocessing of perfusion processes with very high cell density and fed-batch processes, metabolic flux analysis modeling and on-line process monitoring, all aimed at process development for industrial production of protein drugs, viral vectors or human cells for therapy.

The group, of 10 people, is a multidisciplinary team, with researchers, post-docs as well as doctoral and master students. CETEG's activities are characterized by collaboration with academic groups at KTH, in Sweden and in Europe as well as international companies and SMEs. Cell Technology Group has a vacant temporary position for Research Engineer. The practical work will take place at KTH, AlbaNova Centre.

The person will support the activities of CETEG with the following tasks:

  • Coordination of lab functions for various lab activities, as well as support for AdBIOPRO
  • Support research projects and commissioned research, e.g. cultivation process, analyses, purification process, and reporting
  • Contact with suppliers regarding equipment and reagents and application of rules according to KTH's framework for orders, e.g. procurement
  • Contact with other groups within the Industrial Biotechnology Department and CBH School regarding lab operations, environmental review and safety
  • Introduction and training for beginners and internship in mammalian cell culture
  • Registers in use within CETEG, e.g. chemicals inventory, cell bank

Qualifications

Requirements

  • A graduate degree or an advanced level (higher education), such as a civil engineer, in biotechnology or equivalent competence
  • Cultivation of mammalian cells, including bioreactor operation
  • Proficient in written and spoken English, as the role is performed in an international environment where English is required in day-to-day work
