This lecture is devoted to the introduction of the Poincaré model of hyperbolic geometry. Connections with art, and Escher’s works in particular, will be given. Moreover, we will give a physical interpretation of this model, asking whether our Universe is Euclidean or not. Finally, we will explore educational perspectives of non- Euclidean geometries: how mathematics can be used to enhance social skills in students, seen also as critical citizens.
