Felix Rydell: Introduction to algebraic geometry and Macaulay2

We present the basic concepts of algebraic geometry with examples and show how computer algebra programs can help us study solution sets to systems of polynomial equations.

This talk precedes Michael Stillman's colloquium talk  on “Kuramoto oscillators: dynamical systems meet algebraic geometry” and is accessible to a broad audience (master and PhD students).
