Ivan di Liberti: Pre-colloquium — What are sheaves and how come we started caring?

The talk will be a very soft and historical introduction to the notion of sheaves over a topological space and over a locale. Time permitting we will introduce some bits and some intuition about the Grothendieck construction and its relation with étale spaces.
