Robert Bruner: Introduction to the Adams spectral sequence

Time: Thu 2020-02-06 10.15 - 12.00

Lecturer: Robert Bruner, Wayne State University

Location: Kräftriket, house 6, room 306 (Cramér-rummet)

The talk will give a brief historical introduction to the Adams spectral sequence and the Steenrod algebra, to the methods used to compute homotopy groups, then turn to the large scale structure of the Adams spectral sequence for the homotopy groups of spheres.

The audience is encouraged to install software that will automate calculations; this can be done rather quickly during the talk, and sample calculations carried out to test the installations.
