Earth System at Risk

Challenging Environmental (In)Justice. Stream organisers: Giusy Pappalardo, Elisa Privitera, and Francesca Rosignoli.

The stream will explore the concept of ‘environmental justice’ and reveal why, alongside the climate crisis, it is one of the most pressing issues of our time. Contributions are invited for these three main areas: 1) the calls for environmental equity and justice within the broader framework of environmental sustainability and climate justice; 2) how ecological hazards and climate disasters have the harshest impacts on people of colour, native tribes and those on low incomes; 3) how the search for a just and sustainable environment has merged civil rights and environmentalism.

Trailer for Earth System at Risk

This Trailer aims to give a taste of what the Stream participants will present during the Stream Conference scheduled for 3–7 August 2021 in Stockholm. To this end, the main Stream organizers (Elisa Privitera, Giusy Pappalardo, and Francesca Rosignoli) have introduced the main idea behind the Stream, and asked the participants to give a sense of what they think Environmental Justice is all about, how they approached the topic in their working and personal life, and to spoiler a bit their future contribution to the Conference.
