New book: Niklas Möller, Sven Ove Hansson, Jan-Erik Holmberg and Carl Rollenhagen, Handbook of Safety Principles, Wiley 2018.

This handbook is the first of its kind. It provides in-depth discussions of the major safety principles used in safety management. It has been edited by four researchers at the Philosophy Department. In addition to the introductory texts written by the four editors, Holmberg has written the chapters "Defense in depth" and "Quantitative risk analysis". Rollenhagen has written the chapters "Safety barriers" (with Lars Harms-Ringdahl) and "Safety culture" (with Teemu Reiman). Hansson has written the chapters "Factors and margins of safety" (with Neelke Doorn), "The precautionary principle", and "ALARA, BAT, and the substitution principle.
