In this project, we have the unique opportunity to apply AI-powered environmental sustainability optimisation techniques to a new production plant that will be designed and taken into operation within the time-span of the project, belonging to Diamyd Medical. This allows us to apply AI already during design and construction to minimize GHG emissions of the plant when in operation, and to support decision making and trade-offs when controlling the production with regards to vital parameters such as productivity, worker wellbeing, sustainability goals and waste management. Diamyd Medical and KTH will contribute to the project with strong research competence in system architecture, sustainable production, industrial transformation, and environmental strategic analysis. MainlyAI AB, an industrial AI technology SME, will contribute with competence in AI and system architecture. The project is organized in six work packages consisting of a number of activities with corresponding deliverables.
