I completed my post-doctoral studies and am currently Researcher at the division of Energy Systems (dES), Department of Energy Technology. My main research interest lies in the coding and application of open-source energy and integrated assessment modelling tools for use in capacity development activities. To this end, I work on developing interoperable data structures, open access teaching material, methodologies for linking modelling tools and I apply them in structured capacity development projects in several countries.
I got my PhD in Energy and Nuclear Science and Technology at Politecnico di Milano in 2016, with a research about the integration of short-term flexibility constraints into long-term energy investment models, using thermodynamic modelling of power plants, game-theory-based market models and the modelling framework OSeMOSYS. I led the H2020 project 'REEEM', where 11 European institutions carried out an integrated impact assessment of decarbonisation pathways for the EU. Within the same project, I contributed to the creation of the Energy Modelling Platform for Europe (EMP-E). I worked in several capacity development projects in Asia and sub-saharan Africa and worked as a trainer in collaboration with UNDP, UNDESA, UNECA, UNESCAP, OPML.
