About me

Professor, Docent, PhD - Chair, Building Services and Energy Systems, KTH Royal Institute of Technology, Stockholm/SE

With a background in mechanical and building services engineering (HVAC), my core expertise and key engagements have been in the domains of indoor environmental quality (IEQ) management, as well as energy efficiency and energy quality in the built environment (at building, district and urban levels).

Over the years, I have also worked extensively with HVAC/IEQ systems for commercial aircraft, HVAC/IEQ and environmental management systems for hotels & resorts, as well as energy system optimization for building clusters and urban districts.

I have participated in and managed a wide range of academic/industrial collaborative research and educational programs/projects world-wide, in close collaboration with leading universities and industries in Australia, Bolivia, Brazil, Chile, China, the European Union, Japan, the Middle East, Africa, South-East Asia, and the USA.

My current research focuses on user-centric building performance management (with key focus on IEQ and energy efficiency), data-driven smart and sustainable buildings/districts/cities, de-carbonization in the built environment, climate-proofing of buildings, as well as resilient energy systems for remote communities.

I have served as Vice-President of the Federation of European Heating, Ventilation and Air-Conditioning Associations (REHVA, 2019-2023), as well as Chair of the REHVA Education and Training Committee (2022-2023). During 2019-2023, I chaired the Task Force Smart Buildings of the REHVA Technology and Research Committee, and am actively involved in the International Energy Agency ERC Annex 81 Data-Driven Smart Buildings.

I strongly believe in the pursuit of sustainable development in close collaboration between the public and the private sectors.

Sustainability is profitable!
