About me

I am a docent in Media Technology with a specialisation in Sustainabilty and an associate professor at the Division of Media Technology and Interaction Design (MID). My division is part of the KTH School of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science. I am also affiliated with Digital Futues and have recently started to cooperate with KTH Global Development Hub.

I am co-leader of the research group Sustainable Futures Lab together with my colleague Elina Eriksson. Have a look at what our research group has been up to on our team blog as well as what I do in my work on my personal blog.

I am vice programme responsible for a new two-year international master's programme at KTH, Sustainable Digitalisation. The programme started in 2024 and we believe it is quite unique as we neither gloss over the fact that there are huge challenges ahead of us, that these challenges will force us to rethink many things we have taken for granted (for example how much energy we use), and that the transition to sustainable societies is urgent and constitutes the most important challenge facing humanity during the 21st century. The work to build up this master's programme will keep me and my colleagues busy for years to come.

My research is primarily situated in the intersection of computing (especially Human-Computer Interaction) and sustainability. I have a particular interest in all things energy (and associated CO2 emissions); 1) how much we use/emit, 2) how we could decrease it and 3) what it would mean for society and for us personally to deliver on the primises made in the 2015 Paris Agreement (e.g to decrease our CO2 emission by 50% per decade three times in a row)! I am also interested in futures studies, in exploring aestethic expressions together with artists (to reach broader audiences), as well as teaching about sustainability.

The most recent research projects where I was the principal investigator (PI) were:

I have for more than 10 years been active in the following conferences/research communities:

  • The annual worskhop/conference on Computing with Limits (LIMITS)
  • The annual conference on ICT for Sustainability (ICT4S)
