Welcome to DD2471, Modern Database Systems and Applications. This course is a continuation course of DD1368, Introduction to Databases for Computer Science Students and also uses the textbook: H. Garcia-Molina, J. D. Ullman and J. Widom, Database Systems: The Complete Book, 2nd international edition, Pearson, 2009. ISBN 9780131354289. In addition you will be expected to read the first ten chapters of the fifth edition of the Database Redbook (http://www.redbook.io/)(pdf).
The course consists of 8 two hours lectures, 3 recitations, a short quiz (on the database Redbook) and projects. All course material will be given in English. Recitations and project presentations and reports may be given in either English or Swedish.
