JONAS RUNBERGER: NOTES ON DIGITAL PRACTICE

Introductory lecture for new Adjunct Professorship in Architecture with a specialisation towards applied digital design in architectural practise.

Jonas Runberger is an architect active in practice, research and education. His main interests involve the relation between design techniques, architectural production and experiential effect, with an emphasis on the impact of digital technology on both experimental and conventional practice. Particular concerns within this field are protocols for collaborative design processes, digital technology as support in early design stages, experimentation and production, as well as the merging of digital and physical design aspects.

He presented his licentiate thesis  Architectural Prototypes  as part of his design driven doctoral project at the KTH School of Architecture in 2008, and his doctoral thesis at the department of Project Communication at the KTH School of Architecture and the Build Environment in 2012. He is Academic Coordinator of the Digital Fabrication Lab at the school and runs the Advanced level  Studio 9: 'Forging the Emphemeral – Structures of Temporal Permanence'  with Oliver Tessmann. As a practitioner, he is the Director of Dsearch, an environment for digital design development within  White Arkiteker AB

The lectures are held in english, and will be followed by a discussion with  Katja Grillner , KTH School of Architecture Head of Research, Professor in Critical Studies in Architecture and Director of the national research environment 'Architecture in Effect'.
