With the idea G-Phone, KTH researcher Shahrouz Yousefi, together with his supervisor Haibo Li, won the KTH Innovation idea competition 2013. The competition was run in collaboration with EIT ICT Labs and Shahrouz Yousefi will now get SEK 100 000 to spend on developing his idea.

Shahroz Yousefi, researcher behind the G-Phone idea

"By designing the G-Phone (G stands for gesture), we plan to perform the bare-hand gestural interaction in 3D space and solve all the 2D interaction limitations" says Shahrouz Yousefi to KTH Innovation shortly after having received the good news of his winning the competion.  "We wanted to move from 2D touchscreen to 3D Space for intuitive and natural interaction" he continues.

Aside from the glory and a confirmation that he is on the right track with his project, Shahrouz Yousefi will now get capital to continue the development of G-Phone. Together with the KTH Innovation business coach Håkan Borg he has started planning the prototyping and protecting of the technolgoy through patenting.

Shahrouz Yousefi has a hectic summer ahead of him, something he doesn't seem to mind at all. "There is always work to do, but I really enjoy it!" he laughs.

Sincere congratulations from all here at KTH Innovation!
