In an engaging fireside chat format, PhD students will share their experiences and insights on international research collaboration. The discussion will explore the added value of these partnerships, the unique perspectives gained, and how they contribute to advancing global research and innovation.

This session offers a valuable opportunity to reflect on the impact of international collaboration in addressing global challenges and shaping the future of research.

Joydeep Dutta potrait

Joydeep Dutta

Joydeep Dutta is a Professor of Functional Materials at KTH, specializing in nanomaterials for energy, environmental remediation, and food safety. With over 30 years of international experience, he has held academic and leadership roles in Switzerland (EPFL), Thailand (AIT, as Vice President), and Oman (Sultan Qaboos University). He has authored three textbooks, including the award-winning Introduction to Nanotechnology, published 300+ research papers receiving 21,000+ citations (h-index 72), and holds 12 patents. His research has been featured in the Swedish Academy of Engineering’s Top 100 List (2020,2023 & 2024). Prof. Dutta has also founded four companies, advancing sustainable nanotechnology solutions. He has broad experience in academia and industry, and exposure to multiple technology developments including water cleaning and desalination, functional coatings and Green hydrogen production.

Ida Ayu Agung Faradynawati

Ida Ayu Agung Faradynawati is a final-year PhD student at KTH’s Division of Real Estate Business and Financial Systems, researching consumer financial behavior in sustainable investments. Previously, she was a lecturer and researcher at the Faculty of Economics and Business, University of Indonesia.

Manuel Enrique Salas Salazar

Manuel Enrique Salas Salazar is a PhD candidate at the Energy Department of KTH Royal Institute of Technology, specializing in energy systems modelling. His main focus is energy access, modelling possible pathways to achieve universal electrification and clean cooking while expanding the analytical dimensions by considering socio-economic factors, affordability and climate change.

Manuel Nhangumbe

Manuel Nhangumbe is an assistant lecturer at Eduardo Mondlane University, Mozambique since 2010. Currently he is a PhD candidate in GeoInformatics at KTH, Sweden and has a master’s degree in applied mathematics (specialization in statistics, optimization and financial math) from Coimbra University, Portugal.

Valens Habimana portrairt

Valens Habimana

Valens Habimana is a PhD student at Department of Industrial Biotechnology, KTH, and an Assistant Lecturer at the University of Rwanda. His research focuses on sustainable slaughterhouse wastewater treatment using microbial processes and banana fiber-based filtration. He is part of the UR-SIDA program, funded by SIDA, which strengthens Rwanda’s research capacity and supports poverty reduction. The UR-Sweden program allows students to split their time equally between Rwanda and Sweden, spending six months in each country.
