Why did you choose this master’s programme at KTH?

I was drawn to this particular master's programme at KTH for several compelling reasons. First, the international student community at KTH appealed to me. The opportunity to interact and collaborate with students from diverse backgrounds and cultures greatly enriches the learning experience. Secondly, KTH places a strong emphasis on sustainability, which aligns with my personal interests and values. Studying in a country known for its commitment to sustainability, such as Sweden, provided a unique and valuable learning environment. Additionally, the courses offered in the program were highly interesting and closely matched my academic and career aspirations.

What are the best aspects of your programme?

One of the best aspects of my programme is the interactive nature of the courses. We have the opportunity to visit industries relevant to our field of study, which offers practical insights and connects us with professionals in the industry. Moreover, the programme frequently hosts guest lectures, allowing us to learn from experts and stay updated with the latest developments in our field. Another notable aspect is the focus on sustainability, which is integrated throughout the curriculum. It provides a holistic understanding of the challenges and opportunities in sustainable materials development, particularly in the areas of pulp and paper and polymer industries.

How do studies at KTH differ from your previous studies?

Studying at KTH has brought several notable differences compared to my previous studies in India. Firstly, the course structure follows a period-wise system at KTH. This means that we take a smaller number of courses each period, allowing us to focus more intensely on the subject matter and gain a deeper understanding. In contrast, my previous studies in India required taking a larger number of courses every semester, often leading to a more condensed learning experience. Another significant difference is the flexibility in examination formats at KTH. Examiners here offer various types of exams, such as reports, seminars, oral exams, or written exams. In India, the standard format was exclusively written exams. Interestingly, at KTH, students are even allowed to bring food and drink into the exam room, which is a unique perk.
