Shreya
Shreya is 23 year old architect from India and a Master’s student in Architectural Lighting Design Program at KTH . She holds a bachelor’s degree in Architecture from Woxsen University, India. Outside architecture, she is the happiest at painting, dancing to music, solving puzzles or taking a stroll in nature. She loves staying active by meeting new people and creating new memories.
Why did you choose this master’s programme at KTH?
We experience light everyday, yet we rarely stop to think about how much it shapes the way we see, feel and interact with a space. That curiosity is what led me to lighting design. What drew me to KTH is its approach to light not just as a visual or aesthetic tool but in relation to health, functionality, sustainability and user comfort. These are the areas that strongly interest me and KTH felt like a place that would help me turn this curiosity into a new way of designing.
How do studies at KTH differ from your previous studies?
Studying at KTH feels very structured, which gives me a clear direction while still leaving plenty of room to explore. I really value the balance it gives me to be creative and simultaneously develop a more technical and analytical side of design. One of my favourite parts of KTH is the people I get to learn alongside. Coming from different countries, cultures and professional backgrounds, everyone brings a different way of looking at light and space. Our discussions often make me see things from a perspective I would not have considered myself.
How is student life in Stockholm?
Student life in Stockholm has given me so much both socially and personally. I love exploring the city, its nature and even the tunnelbana. There always seems to be something new to discover. Since I arrived, no two days have felt the same. I constantly find myself amazed by something new, whether it’s a place, a view, new people or simply a new way of experiencing the city. Stockholm has made me much more curious about my surroundings.
